In the 19th Century it was the Excise men who had responsibility of applying tax to all beers and ales. The name 80/- derives from the duty rate stamped on the end of the casks.
Exciseman’s 80/- was specially brewed to mark 25 Years of Brewing at Broughton Ales.A dark malty brew, full of the rich flavours typical of classic Scottish 80/- ales. Full drinking with a good hop aftertaste

Major ingredients are:-
Optic Pale Ale Malt, Black Malt, Crystal Malt
Hops used are English grown Challenger, Fuggles and first Gold.
